Firstly a note (to self for reference at NAVCA later) and to readers who are interested in this kind of thing.
Conversations in the ICT Hub Cafe kicked off by Paul Caplan have now developed through posts from both David Wilcox and Laura Whitehead into not just the original thoughts about appropriate use of the best Social Tools for your message, but to how these are being harnessed by the UK Third Sector (Laura) and how Social Networking sites could actually even be a threat (as raised by David) to traditional membership organisations (such as NAVCA) or a bonus if steps are taken to run with and take on board those supporters who might otherwise be just ‘pseudo-supporters’ through a Social Networking site. This conversation is I’m sure set to roll on (I’ve already left comments on Laura’s blog) and then be discussed at the UK Circuit Rider Conference in February.
Then a new publication – ‘Future Focus 3′ is small and perfectly formed. It’s not from the ICT Hub, but the Performance Hub (other hubs are available you know!) . This little booklet takes five drivers of change in technology and gives you the space for your organisation to jot down how each will affect them and what they can do to take advantage of them. I read it on the train into work, its simple and really focuses you mind on areas of developing technology.
Finally don’t forget the SKiLD training for development workers who feel they need to know that little bit more about ICT to be able to support the organisations they are working with to get the most out of technology. This successful (well Paul Jefford said it was!) course will be running in York on February 14th. Attendees get a 1GB USB memory drive with all the ICT Hub resources from the day pre-loaded – which doubles as an ideal present if you forget to by that special person 12 red roses … oh and there are plenty of fine restaurants in York to take him or her out to after the course!
Sold? Great!
If you know anyone who would benefit from this training the please tell them to book now!
