For those who weren’t aware there was a prize to be awarded at the end of the ‘31 days to a better blog’ challenge. The worthy winners were the mini-legends from Australia (see Sue’s post). I was personally particularly impressed by the dedication of both the class and their teacher in using blogging for the class. Blogging at school, beats working … speaking of such things, some ICT Hub related announcements to remind you of.
1, The ICT Hub Unmet need fund is open until 17th September – full details on the link, but we are looking to fund 4 or 5 projects upto around £12k each. Ideas must be original, innovative , involve ICT (!) and not already something the ICT Hub is doing.
2, If you are a development worker constantly being asked by the groups you support about ICT or where to go for ICT services and resources, then if you are based near Guildford or Peterborough these training sessions maybe just what you are looking for. They are being run by the SKiLD project in conjunction with the ICT Hub. There will be two more similar sessions early in 2008 – watch this space for details.
3, One of our hub partners (iT4C) are holding their annual ICT volunteering awards in November which aim to recognise and celebrate the best and most innovative examples of IT volunteering. The categories on the theme of ‘Working towards a better world’ are:
a, Best IT Volunteer
b, Best IT Volunteering Project – impact on organisations
c, Best IT Volunteering Project – innovation
d, Best Accessible IT Volunteering Project
Nominations can be made on their website up to the closing date of 6th October.
Finally welcome back Laura, hope I’ve taken good care of the BB31 challenge while you have been in France. Great set of Flickr pictures, thanks for P1020390.jpg this does it for me – no seriously it does! but you can also give me this anytime.

Hi Paul, Just to say a big ‘Thank you’ for participating in the challenge on my behalf. It’s been a great experience for me learning and sharing ideas with people outside the VCS, but who are using blogs and social media with many similarities in the work they do to how it can work within the VCS-world.
The training looks really good too, and know of a few development workers here in the SW that would be interested. Any chance that Mark can run it in the South West in the future?
