“Say thanks to Auntie P. for the nice gift”. If you’ve got children (or if you are one) wasn’t this always a bit of a let down to a great birthday? You know you had to write thank you letters, but you’d much rather play with the car / doll / commemorative spoon (I had some odd relatives!). Darren’s challenge on Day 29 is similar. It’s to say thank you to someone who has linked to your blog or has left you a comment.
One of my blogging habits is to start a ‘comment chain’ (this is fine by the way), but sometimes rather than this public game of tag its better to say your thanks one-to-one in an email. This way it makes the communication more personal and can lead to developing your shared interests or being able to blog jointly on a subject.
Laura introduced me to the good group taking place in the BB31 challenge (Michele has a good list of them) who I have emailed to say thanks. I also keep in touch with other bloggers by email as it does foster good relationships.
Finally Darren suggests some ways to find out who is reading and linking to your blog. He mentions Technorati Tools, but there is also Feedburner (which I use). Remember incoming links are the ‘Juice’ to keep a blog alive and thriving so cultivate and get to know those who leave you comments. You need them!

Love the “commemorative spoon!” At my house it was slippers, the kind your grandmother loved.
Thank you for the link love, Uncle P and for taking up the mantle for Laura while she enjoys a vacation in France (don’t we all feel terrible for her?)
